Jamie Oliver’s Italian Roasted Chicken

Rotisery oven roasted chickens can be bought at many full service grocers. They are often found in the deli section. Three or four different types like herb, lemon, and maple grazed. The issue with these chickens is the lack of fresh ingredients  used for their flavoring, but most of all, your on a clock to eat that chicken otherwise it’s gone into the fridge for sandwiches, salad or wrap toppings. The cost of which is about $12CAN for a small bird.

For the same cost you can buy a larger bird. Pace your meals for the week and have that chicken on your time, your taste.

Jamie Oliver’s simplicity makes this a snap. He starts by coating the bird with olive oil. Seasoned with sea salt and pepper. Then stuffed with a whole garlic bulb still jacketed individual cloves. A halved lemon and 6 fresh basil leaves. Then in the oven for 45 minuets.

At the point you base with melted butter, a pinch of salt and some lemon juice. Then back in the oven it goes for another 45 minuets.

The result of this recipe is a crispy juicy delicious bird, you would be proud to serve at a dinner party or to the family, with leftovers. Yum.

If you’re a Jamie Oliver fan (and you know you are), you might want to give his “Chicken in Milk” recipe a try, if you haven’t already. It’s gotten a lot of positive press over the last couple of years, and perhaps you’d enjoy it too if you’re looking for something a bit outside the ordinary. 🙂
