The Dutch Oven

Having the proper tools is essential to any cook. Little by little I tried to collect these items. An excellent set of knives, pots & pans, corning ware, blenders, choppers, and processors. Mostly from loving friends and family at my wedding showers.

But something that was always too expensive was a Dutch oven. I always go with the premise of not wasting my money on something I will have to replace later. So I needed a family size. Something around a 5 liter anything less wouldn’t be large enough. I watched their price drift around the $150 mark or more. Till then I adjusted my recipes to accommodate my slow cooker. But some recipes still alluded me.

I was browsing through my favorite store Kitchen stuff plus. I often don’t even go down their aisle as its often too painful to look. But today I braved it. As I was in a great mood finding an amazing deal, $30 on a roaster.

To my surprise I found this baby! On clearance 60% off, merely because of his colour. How discriminating! I decided then and there to give him a home.

Then I was off to Farm Boy for the ingredients for Julia Child’s boeuf bourguinon!
